Former Presidents Roundtable: RIMS Leaders of the Past Look Toward the Future - RMG400
Tuesday, 8:45 am - 10:00 am
This dynamic panel discussion features five former presidents of RIMS who will debate and discuss some of the biggest risk management challenges facing employers in the future and what risk managers can do to prepare for these issues. Potential discussion topics include rising insurance rates, the potential impact of government actions such as healthcare reform, and the impact on risk management from the continued poor economic environment employers are facing. Coordinator note: We could utilize polling in the RIMS LinkedIn group or RIMS web site to determine the actual discussion topics. I did this for a featured panel at the National WC Conference last year and it was very well received.

Tort Reform in 2012: What's New and What's Next? - LEG100
Wednesday, 8:45 am - 10:00 am
Tort compensation is projected to drain over $180 billion dollars from the US economy in 2011. Medical malpractice alone already costs more than $30 billion every year. Who is regulating this big business? What States have recently implemented reforms? Which States are the most dangerous for business owners? Will Congress implement national reform in an election year? Is the Arbitration Fairness Act effective? What are the latest plaintiff schemes for jackpot justice? Our team will answer these questions and more as they take you across the country, identify significant trends and explain the impact on main street. New and experienced risk managers will gain a firm understanding of tort reform changes in 2011 and the hot topics for 2012 and beyond.
