Dedicated Engineers (DEs), located in each of Environmental's regional underwriting offices, provide engineering expertise and ongoing consulting services to Environmental’s underwriters. These engineers are an integral part of the underwriting and claims service teams and help deliver both quality environmental insurance products and claims handling through a strong commitment to pollution loss prevention and control.

  • Conduct site assessments and perform document reviews on behalf of the underwriters
  • Collect and evaluate information on behalf of the underwriters to supplement the insured’s application forms, particularly for larger, more complex accounts with numerous exposures
  • Prepare environmental loss control information for underwriters
  • Tailored participation in seminars for brokers, presenting information on relevant topics and industry risks and explaining policyholder programs
  • Research on regulatory activities to update underwriters on the latest regulatory developments and requirements
  • Evaluate potential liabilities and costs with respect to remediation for underwriters in the context of real estate transactions and mergers and acquisitions
 
The environmental professionals (engineers, geologists, and other disciplines) of Global Loss Prevention, Environmental Claims Division, provide in-house expertise to, and are collocated with,  claims professionals handling claims from Environmental's insureds. These engineers, working in tandem with the claims staff, comprise a valuable in-house consulting resource to facilitate the handling of pollution claims and assist insureds in dealing with their environmental problems.
