A major illness can strike at any time and the financial effects can be very serious for you and your family. Not only could you face major medical bills on top of your regular bills, your income may be significantly reduced if you are unable to go to work for a prolonged length of time. Cancer, heart attack and stroke are the most common forms of Serious Illness experienced by people.
That is why Chartis introduced a Serious Illness Plan to protect you and your partner from the financial consequences of a major illness.
Following diagnosis of an illness insured under your plan financial support begins at once, allowing you to concentrate on recovery rather than worrying about money. Serious Illness plans also provide you with emotional and practical support through our independent Care Advisory Service. You will have unlimited access to a personal nurse advisor along with access to specialists, counselling and therapy. What’s more, the benefits you receive under your Serious Illness Plan are tax free and yours to spend as you wish. The money can be used to modify your home, change your car or pay for unexpected medical bills.
Chose your own cover
There are two levels of benefit to choose from so you can purchase a plan that suits your needs and financial situation. Our standard plan provides a cash benefit of €30,000, with an option to buy a double cover benefit of €60,000.
What you are covered for
You are covered for the following 15 major illnesses which you might suffer from in your lifetime.

We will pay the benefit if you suffer from one of these illnesses, however you can only receive payment once under your chosen plan, after which all cover under your policy ceases. We will only pay the benefit if you survive the illness and we receive a diagnosis of your illness from two separate doctors. No benefit is payable on death.
Low monthly Premiums
Premiums start from as low as €4.60 a month. They are based on your age at time of entry to your plan and will increase as you get older. This is because the cost of providing this insurance increases as you get older.

You and your spouse and partner are guaranteed acceptance in to the plan provided you are between 18 and 74 and are living in the Republic of Ireland. There is no need to fill out lengthy questionnaires or go for medical examinations. Terms and conditions are available for persons outside these criteria on request.
