Injury:

This gentleman sustained a serious lower leg fracture following a work related accident. The fracture was treated with internal pinning and plating via surgery.

Rehabilitation:

The file was referred to Medical & Rehabilitation three weeks post accident. MR contacted the gentleman to introduce MR. He declined the offer of case management. 

Two months later, a solicitor’s letter was received by the claims department. The case was re-referred to MR and we subsequently wrote to the gentleman’s solicitor requesting permission to case manage. The gentleman’s signed consent was received one month later. At that stage, the gentleman had been discharged from primary care and hospital based physiotherapy but reported that he was having a lot of difficulty with pain/soreness around his foot.

Medical & Rehabilitation immediately organised private physiotherapy and also facilitated payment of support orthotic insoles. The case manager negotiated a return to work via a phased basis and the gentleman returned to full duties at work some 5 months post accident
