The cover can easily be tailored to meet the specific needs of individual contractors and any special insurance requirements imposed by individual clients.
The Chartis Europe Contractors Pollution Liability product covers losses caused by both sudden and gradual pollution events arising from pollution conditions caused whilst working on customer sites. First of all it includes bodily injury and property damage including clean-up of pollution conditions arising out of covered operations performed by the insured, moreover on and off-site clean-up costs, legal defense costs and lastly retroactive date at policy inception, however prior acts coverage may be available if the insured has been continuously covered on a claims made basis. It is possible to opt for blanket and/or specific project coverage.
The cover however excludes loss arising out of intentional, or deliberate non-compliance to statutory requirements, fines and penalties and lastly losses arising from professional services undertaken by the insured.

Contractors Pollution Liability
Chartis Europe’s Contractors Pollution Liability product has been designed to protect contractors, site owners and developers, by covering sudden, accidental and gradual pollution risks often excluded under general liability products. Contractors, whether undertaking remediation work or working on contaminated sites, are exposed to a wide variety of liabilities imposed by regulatory authorities or the contractual requirements of individual customers. Additionally gradual pollution conditions may only become evident some time after work is completed and contractors and property owners can find themselves liable many months and even years after the relevant contract is completed.

Chartis Europe Contractors Pollution Liability policy protects an insured contractor against environmental liabilities resulting from the performance of construction activities, even for work completed by subcontractors. Most types of consultants and contractors with exposures to pollution liabilities, namely environmental consultants, site remediation/clean-up and demolition contractors, above and underground storage contractors, emergency clean-up contractors, asbestos and PCB contractors, maintenance contractors, electrical contractors and general contractors.
