National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) claims are handled by independent national adjusting firms. Because floods are catastrophic in nature the adjusters are not always local. Claims are typically assigned to the adjusting firm the same day received and the insured is contacted within 24 to 48 hours of the assignment. NFIP claims are almost always processed efficiently start to finish through the insurance company claims department with little or no need for TFIA participation. However in the case where the insured needs assistance or simple reassurance, TFIA is here to provide professional claims assistance.
- Claims may either be submitted directly to New Hampshire Insurance Company or to TFIA
- TFIA addresses proper claims handling from the start. Helpful information about what to do in the event of a flood and how to file a claim are provided to each policy holder at policy inception.
- Claims submitted to TFIA are taken by licensed insurance agents who offer assistance and support to the policy holder and their unique situation.
- TFIA assists with communication between the policy holders, adjusters, and claims department as necessary for a smooth claims process.
- TFIA will provide claim status to the insured and agent upon request.
- Adjusters are assigned and normally contact the insured within 24 to 48 hours from claim submission
